los caminantes

Hola Amigos!
We need to apologize for our lack of e-mails. We are safe and
doing well. We have seen and experienced so many wonderful things
and certainly owe everyone an update about our travels. In the
meantime, we thought we'd share with you this top 15 list
we composed after six days of trekking in Torres del Paine.
So here goes ...
15. Postcards of mountains in Patagonia are touched up just
like Cosmo covers. They can not possibly be natural photos,
because Patagonian mountains are always, always obscured by
clouds!
14. Wind at night ... rain during the day ... no buena vista!
13. Four hours of walking never seemed so long!
12. You don't have to live like a Refugio.
11. Drinking muddy water isn't just a blues song.
10. No matter how prepared you think you are, nature can kick
your ass!
9. Warm showers and flush toilets should never ever be taken
for granted.
8. Gene Kelly lied. After more than one hour, singing ... walking
... sleeping ... breathing ... ANYTHING in the rain is miserable!
7. Properly functioning zippers son muy importante.
6. Never say the weather can't get any worse --- because
it can!
5. Germans have too much free time!
4. Backpacks are like being pregnant in reverse ... except no
one gives birth to a 40 pound baby.
3. You know you are in love when, after three days of trekking
and three days without a shower, you STILL want to share the
same sleeping bag!
2. When people who live on the top of a mountain tell you a
trail is "easy," do not, under any circumstances, believe
them!
And the number one thing we learned while trekking in Patagonia
...
1. Gore-tex leaks!
That's our list! Thanks for being patient with our lack
of informative e-mails. We promise a new one soon!
With warm regards,
Erich y Sarita
